Spoon Fed Education
From the past 3 night outs, this is what I observed - Within the first one-third of the total time spent in writing a research article, I bite my pen. The second phase's onset is indicated by the sucking of the ice-cream void spoon from falling over the rapidly typed keyboard (while the real carrot flavored ice cream melts on the side). The transition of the hunger phase to sleep deprived yawn phase is ribbon-cut with the lips sealing to hold on to a journal article ready to be referenced.....
The lady version of Bahara is turning out to be a Kosher..... Back to tapping toes, slow head-banging, and typing taals!!!

Participle - Participating Continuity
Instead of 'so-called' utilizing the opportune moment of the free Thursday evening in years to draw bright tangents with the dark circles, the heart took the road less taken. Turned out, that the road was in fact the parallel wooden rungs of a long iron ladder over which the mechanical monsters pass behind the Desi street hooting every night. Twenty counts of "taken pictures" later, I was stranded soaked from the breezy rain, over a railing deficit bridge several miles from any area I know in Lexington. A pick up by the senior roomie later using the i-phones google maps location finder, discovered that I had actually ran around eight miles on a railroad just by listening to a rhythmic song. Somehow, the jog steamed a great amount of pressure out of the cooked bheja.
Time well spent on finishing an old photography project somehow induced the Ghajini's intuition to make a call to Lady Liz (LL) and Skipper (SP) inquiring about their wedding anniversary. Turned out that the pair got married by registered paper on July 24th, while the real "Thaali/Mangalsutra" episode occurred two weeks later (after LL eloped from her village 'alone' back in the late 70s). Skipper's discussion of restlessness for those torturing 14 days and LL's mute excitement experienced in the presence of my grannies for a lil' over 12 happy days proved a real enthusiasm for the year. Every time I probe deep into my parents romantic adventures, I learn something interesting. As a token of appreciation of their guts, I gutted out the truth of finally passing the final stage of the faculty interview from IIT-K. And as a token of sharing some principles, I also informed them it's just a back up plan if things turn 'fatal' here in the States. This sharing somehow instigated the curiosity in Skipper, and we ended up detailing a discussion on just the phrase, "What is Nano?"
Ended the night with an experimental kitchen attempt to extract rose flavor from a bouquet of bought love using coconut oil, hot water, and a never used antique 10 ml extraction column. A few spoons of mango pulp and milk gave it an exotic drooling taste.
Off the rail roads of romantic adventures:
1. Fortunately every roomie I had in the past 5 years turned out to be good in character. Or is it the perspective of seeing, appreciating, and 'extracting' the rosy-goodness in all that I've been with? For the two days of sleepless fundamental scanning and multiple book reading, I'd been offered Nescafe, given hot soup, compelled with black coffee, and satiated with a nice "busy-belabath." In return, the party demands not one, but two blue labels from me. :))
2. It's early summer/spring and the 'hippy' vision is already kicking some neural dendrites' ass by noticing a lot of things on the walk to the lab. The recent count of non-human materialistic smiley faces on the road has been six (and these are not visions of clouds changing into the faces). And every time I cross the concrete cemented smiley, I think of taking a picture with the phone and sms'ing to the fan.
3. Three and a half years of points of no return were reanalyzed and the pick of the lot ended up on 'turning around, sighting a shut door, getting into the elevator, and thinking "The answer for the long sought question is now."'
4. A lot of muteness is shown by me on the field and it is really making me feel young and energetic.
5. "Screw you" was the exact phrase Dr. Hi used, while he was analyzing my response to the rude reviewers query. Coincidentally it was the same phrase I used as I read the query 2 days ago. Also he used twice the term, "What a d**k!!" in front of me as he read the reviewers next query. Non-coincidentally I wasn't that peeved with the bloke.
6. I am doing another jog definitely when it rains and this time I'm going to listen to "not alone" all the way till I meet the polar express.

Sour and Sweet!!!
At least that was what the original plan had been. With the barcode of a name wrapped around my wrist, things seemed optimistically certain of getting alleviated. Two hours later, with nearly giving up on the last bit of self-control to not pull every hair of the scalp, I asked humbly to the ER nurse, "I've been here for two hours. Is the doctor coming?" After counting every bit of hair I had plucked of sheer pain in my imagination twice, I went again and enquired, "Ma'am, it's been four hours......" Walking back in agony, I started doing the 'expecting dad'. For every ten to and fros I traveled I checked the wall clock and it seemed like time had snail juice written all over its path.
Seven brutal hours later I walked to the shift over nurse, bit the plastic bar code wrapped around the wrist, pulled it, set it on the window gap of her counter, smiled, and said, "I guess my teeth is all fine now. I can chew good" and pointed my finger to the bar code. I finished with "Please cancel my emergency off the schedule. Thank you" and exited. Suffering on the edge along with a few partial things I witnessed took evasive action in such a manner. The severity in pain though should have been the reason for keeping me insomniac on bed, the guilt of such an act kept me awake. Thanks to it, the happiness of donating blood the number of times more than my age the next day all dissolved into a painful fever. Ended up watching this again. Hopefully the fever doesn't hold me from going to this on Friday (Would be 5 yrs in a row).
Today, a mail from the hospital came in regretting that their standards of service could not suit my emergency needs. "My foot!" was the instant remark in my mind considering the fact that they treated really sick, old, and really young people the same way - by letting them wait and suffer till they are Grey enough for an Anatomy of more insurance money. (This is the fifth time I had been in the ER and I've seen too much shit) Too bad, they had close ones comforting in their sickness and holding on to this brutal concept of an ER in the US.
Anyways, the things I found in the seven vital hours of thoughtful food are
1. Pandora can be loaded with Indian songs (old ones too) and I've listened to this like a few ten times submerged in oblivion.
2. Moment before walking off to the nurse counter #1 - I had realized that the biggest advantage I had with the tooth ache was, 'I had full control over my #1 vice'. Heck, I was ready to test it further instead of rotting here.
3. Moment before walking off to the nurse counter #2 - "I'm getting old and I need something to rely on" buzzed from Pandora's rock channel and I decided I'd better start relying on self if things stay this way for a long time.
4. Moment before walking off to the nurse counter #3 - The person second next to me in terms of admit was a sick kid. He waited for the fricking same seven hours for no treatment. And I decided to contribute a push by simply walking off.
10 hrs later - Disappointed of how boring and same my alter ego was to the original me in my dream (nodding in disbelief)
Lunch - For the first time ever I hated the favorite French dip from Arbys coz the tongue has grown in admiration to self cooking (Colacassia fry, Bhindi masala, Palak Paneer, Malai Kofta, Fish Fry and Mango Sambhar in 1 week of home rest).
Now - The chemistry between desi senior lab members and Gori sisters of the lab is so bad that I am tempted to write a 2 page report on the obvious potential blunders of an hypothesis, the qualifier taking grad student has proposed. Hell, with it! I am sending it to the boss with a note that let him do the talking/discussion with the student. Guess, it's really big time to scoot from the current lab.

Matrix RESUSPENDED
Am not rich, but definitely am insane. One reason I might turn into a scientist (Scientology-Atheist mix). :D
Song for the early bird that gets the worm. :P
29th 3:30 pm: I took the Belbin test and my characters turned out to be primarily the Plant followed by the secondary Team Worker. "Plant" - resembles the absentminded professor inventor.
This week's like a magic 8 ball. Eurekaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!

Challenge Accepted Buddy!!!
Today, from an odd incident, one of my old under grads saw me discussing seriously with my advisor. My casual half hour lunch in the grad lounge was time enough for the under grads to approach me and remind me that I have grown too professional in the past few months. A consoling survival-of-the-fittest discussion bombarded inadvertently into an inelastic collision. $5 bet on the table from each, that I call my advisor 'buddy' in front of a representative under grad within the day and that he should not respond with a question mark in his face. A reliever from the routine in disguise is what the challenge seemed to me. Challenge accepted!!!
1:30 pm - Group meeting: I knew that my advisor with his lunch schedule today in particular, would be coming early to the conference room to open it up. I, along with the representative, arrived a couple of minutes before my advisor. As my advisor walked along the corridor towards us, I said, "Nobody is here Dr. H***."
Dr. H: Nobody????
I: (Using the opportunity to the maximum extent, sighed, and went.....) NOooooooo (paused, smiled short and........) Buddy(ieeeeeeee)!!! (This was strong, and lucid in pronunciation).
Dr. H: They should be here. Let's get in (and he punched the code in the conference room door).
I gave a successful smile back at the ug representative and continued into the conference room.
An hour and a half later, I was counting $30 from the under grads, whom I promised to join (and pay their entry) at Baker 360 for the night. So it's tub-thumping night I guess.
Off the challenges in life:
- I saw my Day Rider (my Suzuki car) in Louisville this week. Pretty much happy that the new owner has kept the car clean and in a better condition. :)
- In two weeks, I was instructed to listen to so and so songs and movies by at least half a dozen people. Good to see that I am focused enough to be not concerned about new releases and tunes. double :)
- I saw this one liner "Only Robinson Crusoe can do things by Friday", and took a personal challenge to finish next weeks, early to-do list by today. Although I am only 80% finished with it, I am many % smiling about achieving it on a "Oh Yeah! Fridays are a better Finish" Friday!!! triple :)
- I had the 'save now' post from the early week as "The Truth of your point of view on relationships, you mention to your close friends is considered a Lie. The Lie you self mention on the current view point of your relationship with close friends is in fact the real Truth." Seriously, did I come up with this in sleep walk/talk??? :| Anybody agreeing/vehemently wanna oppose this statement, do clarify me on it's meaning first. :P
- Work engrossed, background looped, music of the day were "Intermittent fitful dance steps as you experiment", "Slow trance into the strings and off-work-concentration moves" and "Had to play umpteen times from the beginning to finish the song in one go, due to constant disturbances related agitated frenzy steps"
- This week, an old acquaintance Scott Murdoch, an interesting photographer, sent me this picture (below) and asked my comments. While, the most would have mixed feelings of the photograph, I and a close dudette guru of mine (as per Scott's words) were "Remarkably Keen-Eyed". Find the real truth behind the photograph by using simple reasoning skills. (If you can't figure out what the photographer has tricked you into, mail me so that I can inform the photographers imaginative and creative skill)

Song for the weakened heart
A series of more physical signs proved that he was in serious heart pain. Panic, turned into calmness, and with all the CPR training taken as a mandatory protocol for UKCC and LTCA orgs revised involuntarily in my head. My eyes focused on the Chem-Phys corridor door and with no second thought I said, "Mr. Jim, hold on. I am going to carry you inside a building to get out of the cold." He nodded, and I carefully, let loose of his grip, lifted him and carried him to the nearby building with at most care. Within the next few minutes I had called my flu stricken roommate to get his car for taking Jim home since he insisted in denying any 911 help. About 5 minutes later, with two more unknown students around me expecting his pace maker to kick up, he recovered from his pain, took some deep breaths and said, "Let's continue to the microarray demo"
I was left......... well you know, unbelievably shocked at his attitude. A mixed bag of emotions, mostly swelling towards confusion sweated my face. For the next half hour of demo and the rest of the day, I was left intro-extro-don't-know-what-kinda-spective mindset. And that along with the irony life, is the biggest reason for making me avoid a concluding thought for this post.
Moving from the regularities of the daily heart attacks:
- I've been holding on to a freebie human genome chip from the demo as my research horse shoe.
- I've been withholding so much usual day to day fun that I stopped showing my I-card to the BBSRB buildin scanner and instead jump to scan the wallet in my back pocket of my pant to open the door. There goes the days of scanning your eyes for entrance. Here comes the pretty simple - butt scan... :D
- In an unexplainable irony of chance, my QCM result has gained a free admit for a symposium in NY city. If I can somehow squeeze some academic travel money I can go there for some new ideas. The chance factor is what that entices my memory to stay long.
- This weekend most probably would be my last game of cricket in my life. I keep my fingers crossed that I'd go into a Univ that has a cricket club. Two weeks ago I was honored by MOCL's committee and senior most players from other teams for being a bright captain and player. Instead of me getting senti, I saw the team getting emotional.
- Had our first academic grandson born yesterday. Academic grandson is a funny term.
- And finally here is a song for you for whatever is meant to keep you happy.

Impartially Partial
Less than a minute into the scene over there, the judge got upset over the fact that the afro-american lady started speaking on the phone with her husband as the judge proceeded with the case. More gallantry of the respected Ma'am, was analyzed by cases such as "84 year old granny cited for animal cruelty, a man admitting DUI but denying that he drove 'HIS' car, a cleopatra morphed pretty women accepting the possession of marijuana, three non-english speaking Amigos caught for smuggling 100 different goods in a state fair denying the fact that they knew each other, while they were all caught in the same caravan, a few other suspended licenses etc."
About half an hour later, the lady judge (whom by now, I started liking for her simplicity in character and jovial good mood in a gravity situation) honored my efforts of standing on the queue rather than sitting, and pulled me in. With the incredulously long Amru-serpentined slang of a name finally spelt right, the courtroom cop understood that I was not in the allocated time. Twenty minutes later, in the next session, the judge directed me through the crowd of felons to the trial dias like the way Moses guided his followers through the sea.
Judge (J): Cite your name son!
I: ------ (H2S CD)
J: (Reading through the citation statement) I see that you've been driving with a suspended license. Do you plead guilty or not guilty?
I: Hmmmm..... (looked at the judge, waited for her to focus her eyes on my face)..... Partially guilty Ma'am.
J: (Zooming through her bifocals) Explain (in a soft confused tone).....
I: The indicator part of the citation was my mistake your honor. It was 3 in the morning and I was in a left only lane. So I did not put the indicator coz I was tired of no sleep. About the suspended license that was a genuine mistake from the cops side.
J: Anything you say can be used against you son. Tell me about the cops mistake.
I: The day I was caught that led to the traffic school citation, I mentioned him the current address was different from that of the issued license. I presume that he used the old one and so I recieved no documentation regarding the school work.
J: A common error it seems. Go, get your license after finishing traffic school and come back on Sept 17th at 4:30 pm. And please don't be early!!
I: (Gave a smile) Again a mistake your honor, from the recent cops citation. The time he wrote looks like a 3:30 instead of a 5:30.
J: (Gives a gesture to the courtroom cop to get the document, takes a look at it, smiles) Son!! You have every right to sue the cop for his bad handwriting.
I: (along with the courtroom which laughs slightly) Sorry your honor, I can't do it!
J: The forgiving kind of a person I see, then. (Smiles with a funny attitude this time)
I: (Fully understanding the situation of good mood) Hmmm... "I Object your honor" (I smile coz of the satisfaction of saying that statement for real in a court room) I won't sue the cop coz I can't afford an attorney.
J: (Smile vanishes......) Then you can use the help of the public attorney.
I: Ohkay your honor. Hope I get a million dollars from it. :D
The end charges was left with a warning, get my license by taking classes (which I've got to do asap to do my St. Louis and Atlanta trip), and then provide the new license as proof of confidence. Now I have my Mazda car trial on the 28th and 29th. Hope I have the same mood, and a similar judge to get the right judgement.
Off the blind-balance: See this video of coldplay (Yellow). Check the statement "Our cheapest & best video we think. It was all meant to be big + grand, but it rained." in the about the video part. Now, watch the video, understand the mastermind/masterpiece or whatever u call behind the video. It's a thought provoking video (forget the song, the lyrics, the guy. Just look at the background coz it speaks volumes about the guy who planned to shoot this video). If you don't understand the uniqueness of this video, then do comment and I'll supply your light. (Hint: The rays of sun takes 8 minutes to reach earth). The guy walks in slowmotion, but the song is sung with exact lip sync (Another rare trait of camera work and artistic practice). Now see The Scientist - This is a reverse reeled song where everything moves backwards except the lip sync of the song. Guess how they did the video.....
Song for the blog post - Closer
Told a few of my roomies about dad's statement on me that shattered all goodness in me. One guy really impressed me with his efforts to console my feelings with at least 7 different interpretations of the statement. I am somehow blessed with such great roomies everytime. :)
Twisted my ankle again. But this time it happened coz I took preventive 'jumping jack' measures not to step over an ant. I have the next 5:30 hrs to cure the injury before I confirm my presence in the already twice missed EKU game (I never lost with this neighbor team. But UKCC lost twice in my absence scoring 108 and 89. Though the guys mindset is reeking 'Revenge', my mindset has always been, 'Why are these guys hyping up a low on morale team all the time?')
And finally
Happy Independence Day (:India flag)

A definite keeper
3 a.m. Wednesday night - I've never been this excited in listening to a simple yet profound song. (Youtube video unavailable. This might well be the first song I would buy using itunes. By the way, the play button is on the right side of the link window. :D)
